Promotes Cardiovascular Health**
May lower blood pressure**
(Co Q-10) boosts energy, acts as an antioxidant and may help boost the immune system.**
HEART DISEASE - Research shows that Co Q-10 may be beneficial in the prevention and treatment of heart disease because of its antioxidant properties and its ability to diminish formation of blood clots and improve energy production.**
HEART FAILURE - Levels of Co Q-10 are generally low in people with Congestive Heart Failure.**
HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE - After 30 to 90 days of consistent use, Co Q-10 may help lower both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.**
HIGH CHOLESTEROL - Levels of Co Q-10 are generally lower in people with high cholesterol than in healthy people of the same age. Some cholesterol lowering medications tend to reduce levels of natural Co Q-10 in the body. Co Q-10 supplementation can increase Co Q-10 levels without decreasing the positive effect of medication on cholesterol levels.** Co Q-10 supplementation may also relieve some of the muscle pain associated with certain medications.**
BACKGROUND - Coenzyme Q-10 (Co Q-10) is a compound found naturally in the energy producing portion of the cell known as the mitochondria. Co Q-10 is involved in making an important molecule known as adenosine triphosphate which serves as the cell's major source of energy. Adenosine triphosphate is responsible for a number of processes including protein production. Co Q-10 also works as an anti-oxidant that helps eliminate free radicals. Free radicals are damaging compounds that alter cell structure, modify cell DNA and can even cause cell death. While free radicals can occur naturally in the body, environmental toxins such as cigarette smoke, air pollution and radiation increase the number of free radicals. Scientists believe free radicals can be linked to many health problems such as heart disease and cancer as well as contributing to the aging process. Antioxidants, such as Co Q-10, help offset the effects of free radicals and may prevent some of the damage they cause.
FORM & DOSAGE - For adults, supplementation with 30 mg - 400 mg of Co Q-10 daily is recommended.** Softgels are generally better absorbed than tablets or capsules.** Co Q-10 is fat soluble and should be taken with a meal containing fat or at night to help the body use it.**
